
Unfortunately in the business world it doesn't work that way. Harvey Pitt, underfire from congressmen who want him to resign, went to congress this week and asked for a raise and a promotion. He wanted a raise from 138,200 to 166,700 (he made 3 million in 2000 as a lawyer for the accounting industry so I'm sure he feels relatively poor) and elavation to cabinet level position. Even the White House was forced to comment that they did not support the idea but that "it's always a prerogative of independent agencies to talk to Congress."
