The Bachelor, Survivor, Amazing Race and MTV reality updates
Survivor 5 (notice all of these shows have numbers after them?) got off to a pretty good start in the opening episodes. What I call a top 10 all-time moment (or series of them at least) during the reward challenge. Sook Jai (aka stronger tribe) kept breaking the rules of the game while teams tried to fight past each other carrying baskets between boats. Watching them completely break down was comical. Then Shii Ann the little manipulator teams up with Jake and helps throw the immunity challenge so they can dump Jed. It worked, but little Shii probably wasn't counting on picking up 3 votes herself. Then at Chuay Guan, Ted pulls a little hubba hubba in the dark, cuddling up to Ghandia improperly while half asleep. After a few days of everyone being uncomfortable, and the tribe losing the challenge for immunity, it seemed ready to be a 3-3 tie on gender lines between Ted or Clay and Ghandia. Then Helen turned the tide, and sent Ghandia packing for Denver.
Amazing Race 3 got off to a pretty slow start. Soccer moms Gina and Sylvia were the first victims of the race, unable to catch the Doublemint Twins Derek and Drew. Then the Twins used the Fast Forward to slide into first on the second leg, while first leg FF users Gerard and Ken slipped to sixth. People, do not waste the FF so early in the game! At least K&G won a cruise for winning leg 1. Eliminated from leg 2 was self proclaimed "Team TNT" Tramel and Talicia, who flipped over their jet ski no less than three times. Hilarious stuff. What has surprised me the most is cop/fireman duo Andre and Damon (now eighth) who are playing more like a couple of old ladies, and showing none of the skills that helped them get their jobs.
Meanwhile on The Bachelor 2 Aaron first waved goodbye to 10 women he hardly knew in the first episode, which showed when he had to retreat while naming the 15 he picked because he forgot a couple of their names. Then he got three "5 girl" dates, and promptly locked lips with 3 different girls, 1 of whom (Shannon) he wouldn't wind up taking for the final 10. Meanwhile, Anindita gets into a tiff of sorts with Christi and then smears up the rose ceremony by telling Aaron she's taking herself out of the competition because the other girls want him, inferring that she doesn't. Uh, sorry babe, but you were on the block anyway. Then Frances got in on the act and also bowed out. She was probably not going to be given a rose either, but Aaron appeared frazzled while he gave his final 10 their roses, sticking mostly with blondes. To say that this has been more interesting than the original with cardboard cutout Alex would be an understatement.
Until next time, keep it real.
