When poets get their hands on a calculator
Those who know me well, know I love heuristics, especially those that appear to model human behavior with mathematics. So you might imagine I'd like this story about the ingredients for happiness. But I don't. It fails both of my tests for mathematical heuristics for human behavior:1) It must be actionable---there should be something you can do with it. I guess it succeeds here, because I could predict my level of happiness, even if I couldn't change it.
2) It must be precise/measurable---in other words, mathematical.
