Haven't I seen you somewhere before?

PoliticA blogger notes similarities between the U.S. leadership's behavior now, and that in days of old.
To wit: "The parallels between the modern American political scene and the events of the late 1930's and early 1940's are not cheering. I mean, you've got Roosevelt convening secret military tribunals to try suspected terrorist without risking the possibility of them being found innocent, detaining people for being of the same background as those that attacked us...is it just me, or is Bush ripping off Roosevelt's playbook? I find it amazing to consider that a Republican would so totally mimic not just any Democrat, but the one constantly villified as the man who began that hated Big Government that so twists the GOP's knickers in a bunch..."

Especially since Bush claims Teddy R as his hero. I do see Teddy Roosevelt as a better parallel for at least Bush\'s foreign policy -- Ignore the rest of the world and their interests except when it got in the way of our multi-national companies (like overthrowing various Latin American countries) and then carry a big stick.
