Broken record

PoliticA war with Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism (say the CIA and FBI). It has nothing to do with WMD. I don't know whether it's a matter of ego, distraction from the economy, oil, or what. Maybe it's all of the above. But oil as an issue? I could almost get behind that. I can *not* get behind anything that isn't improving my life or protecting my security. So there.

It\'s just a coincidence, right?

If it weren't for it's anti-war image, the Picasso piece would not have been covered for Colin Powell's statement to the U.N. Of course, Ashcroft would have found a way do declare it anti-Christian (I mean, illegally smutful.)

There's an interesting story and commentary on Ahmed Chalabi, who's a likely candidate to run Iraq after the U.S. led "coalition" is through. What's puzzling to me is that Hamid Kharzai was clearly an oil man (consultant to U.S. oil companies on building a central Asian pipeline across Afghanistan, actually). So whether or not we like Chalabi, I wonder how he became the choice for the Cheneyfeld White House, when he doesn't appear to formerly have been a business associate.

Also, I find the peaceful appearance of the White House in this photo strikingly contrasted with the warmongering inside.
