Longing for Bill

PoliticI read Bill Clinton's comments in a Texas appearance and it makes me nostalgic for when we thought sexual indiscretions were embarrassing.

(By the way, I believe UT is a good school. Just because a few folks protesting outside are unable to put toghether a rational soundbite for the press doesn't prove otherwise. Wealthy parents everywhere can buy degrees---such as a Harvard MBA---for their children, no matter how dopey those children are.)

I turned to Athena and said, \"If this guy lies about smoking dope and sleeping with women, what else is he lying about?\". She looked at me blankly at said she was voting for him. Now David knows who Athena is, and no one else who reads this needs to know. What is important is that even the first time I could vote for a president, I knew a snake when I saw and heard one. That was back in 1991.

He\'s still a snake, and he doesn\'t know when to shrivel up and die. Hell yes UT is a good school, most of my father\'s family is in Texas, and God bless them. But W. Gardner Selby is responsible for those poor quotes, not the folks standing outside. The author can print whatever the hell they want, and in this case Selby decided to pick out two lame quotes to make conservative students look dumb. Nice tactics.

Clinton is great at lip service. He runs his mouth more than anyone. Calling the president\'s moves \"crazy\" and basically giving a Rodney King reminiscent \"can\'t we all just get along?\" speech means about as much to me as who won a woman\'s basketball game in Spain.

Get over it Clinton, your crony Gore lost the election. Crawl back into your hole and stay there. If Hillary Clinton ever wins the presidency, I am leaving the country, and David knows where I\'m going.

GWB or Chimp?

A review:

norcalfella, Feb. 18: \"Clinton needs to shut his mouth because he is NO LONGER PRESIDENT.\"

norcalfella, Feb. 18: \"I\'m done ranting, and I think done commenting on this subject. Sports and Entertainment is more fun\"

dbsmall, Feb. 20: \"Even by comparison to President Reagan (who norcalfella presumably is pleased has shut up, now that he\'s no longer president),\"

norcalfella, Feb. 21: \"Presuming that I\'m \"glad he has shut up\" is presuming too much, and on your part that was a pretty dumb comment\"

Gee, I took you at your word...that WAS dumb! ...thought you were done with this subject, and thought you believed ex-Presidents should keep quiet.

I was wrong on both counts.

I\'ll stand by my two longer posts:
\"I think schoolyard violence, teen pregnancy, failing educational programs teaching creationist pseudoscience, club drug pervasiveness---each of these is a bigger deal. And let\'s be clear---BUSH is setting the standard for bullying. BUSH and his family (daughters, niece) are setting the standards for drug problems (cocaine, alcohol, crack). ASHCROFT is setting the stage for the dumbing down of our science programs and the introduction of state-endorsed Christianity.

Look, Clinton was a philandering dog who (surprisingly) was caught only once. And I know you don\'t like him. But I\'ll say this---the economy, civil liberties, the environment, an education (which have to be my 4 hottest political buttons) were all doing far better under him than under Bush. And I\'ll take a philanderer who lies about stuff I couldn\'t give a sh*t about (his sex life) over an idiot who lies about everything important (federal tax cuts will stimulate the economy, I care about the environment, education is important to me, we need to restrict people\'s liberty for our own security) to me.\"

AND

\"Instead of engaging in ad hominem attacks, how about saying what of Clinton\'s \"Lip Service\" was inaccurate.

Last I checked, under his watch, the debt was shrinking and jobs were abundant. Under GWB\'s watch (which he was appointed to by a SC ruling, not by winning an election), the economy\'s in the dumper, we have martial law in several cities, unemployment is rampant, the space shuttle blew up, the twin towers were attacked, we\'re strongly disliked by...well...every country except England, Anthrax was sent to law enforcement and the guilty parties were never caught...GWB\'s largest campaign contributors perpretrated the largest white-collar crime/fraud in history and won\'t see a day of jail time for it (and oh, by the way, they influenced his \"energy policy\", but Cheney\'s lawyers kept the GAO from investigating the ties).\"
