Johnnie L. Cochran Spikes again

EntertainmentTNN planned to change its name to Spike on Monday as it attempts to change its image as it attempts to become the top male lifestyle focused channel. Unfortunately Spike Lee isn't pleased (I don't want to be associated with "demeaning, vapid and quasi-pornographic content") and his lawyer Johnnie Cochran convinced New York Supreme court to put an injunction on the move until hearings in September. Now what is most interesting to me is how did the The Nashville Network that used to show performances at the grand old opry and religious programing as well as plenty of country music videos become The National Network become Spike focused on skin, wrestling, Star Trek, and Nascar? Must be a result of that media consolidation everyone is complaining about as Viacom bought them and turned them into another product of modern culture/media trends.

Spike Lee settles with Viacom saying \"As an artist and a filmmaker, I feel that protection of freedom of expression is a critical value and I am concerned that my efforts to stop Viacom from using the Spike TV name could have the unintended consequence of threatening the First Amendment rights of Viacom and others.\"

Or maybe they threatened to never show another one of his movies on their networks or maybe the hiring of David Boies (Justice Department lawyer versus Microsoft, Al Gore\'s lawyer in 2000, lawyer for Napster) by Viacom scared Johnnie Cochran.
