Internet World Wide Web
Popular science explains the distinction between the Internet (the network) and the WWW (application/information store). Unfortunately, the article also includes this statement: "The Web is the name given to anything on the Internet that can be accessed using a Uniform Resource Locator, or URL." Ummm...not exactly. URL's can apply to FTP sites, steaming audio, even telnet sessions. But at least they tried.
