This article articulates the rational processes scientists follow, and contrasts that with the process of "the faithful". I like the metaphor of "the game", and am now going to use this metaphor instead of the old metaphor I used:

Scientists have faith in only one thing, and that's the scientific method. They may eventually use this to arrive at the same conclusions that the religiously faithful already have.
