Three shillings and we forget the name

EntertainmentGwen and I went to see The Pirates of the Caribbean last night, and I have the following observations:
  • Johnny Depp is really a great actor. The movie was enjoyable, largely to his "creation" of his role.
  • Even if the movie hadn't been enjoyable, I think Gwen would ahve been fine watching Orlando Bloom prance around a bit.
  • The same did not hold true for me and Keira Knightley, who seems to be underfed, with an underbite. Shame, as I do enjoy accents...
  • The references to the ride at Disneyland were quite entertaining
All-in-all, it was a nice diversion, an interesting movie, and something that wants me to rent a bunch of other Deppmovies...

Three shillings and we forget the name

1) Depp modeled his character after Keith Richards. Bet ya didn't know that, did ya?

2) I haven't seen it, but I'm astounded that it has raked in 281 million and counting (#19 all-time). Then again, last night I saw My Big Fat Waste of 95 Minutes and that one made 241 million (#31 all-time) so I think someone needs to make a dollars vs. quality movie graph. Sorry, I won't be doing that myself.
