What is the future of the Republican party?
Well, if you accept that Texas (Bush, Rove, DeLay) is steering the ship these days, it's best to take the Texas Republicans at their word. Kevin Drum has done just that, and the results are terrifying. "Republicans won't rest until abortion is completely outlawed, Social Security is abolished, the welfare state is completely rolled back, the book of Genesis is taught in science classes, and the federal income tax is abolished." Oh, and let's take the Panama Canal by force. Here comes my rant: What's great that comes out of Texas? I'm obviously not a fan of Bush. I'm not a fan of one-testicled, drug-junkie bicyclists being held up as heroes and stealing legit. records of great cyclists. I'm not a fan of companies having a 13-state market, yet valuing Texasi elitism more than stock price. Honestly, what's the great contribution of Texas, other than to say "everyone should do things *our* way, 'cause it's better, even though there's no evidence to support that."?
