Anyone who suffered through The Matrix: Reloaded must have figured they would wait for the video to find out if the final episode in the trilogy would be more action and less diatribe. The series is worth billions, but they can't be happy about the fact that Elf (129M) has beaten them badly the past two weekends and trails them by only 4M at this point. With a 39-11 edge over those two weekends, Elf, which was released the same week, looks like it will ultimately gross more money than the high priced blockbuster. I guess they overestimated the popularity of the series, and future projects will shy away from opening within 6 months.
