There was a different cast of characters in this week's bottom 3 and it must have seemed shocking to Jon Peter Lewis for him to fall out of the mix so quickly. After all, this was the guy who took 22% of the fan vote to earn the wild card over 7 others. That is an impressive number. However, when you sing "Jailhouse Rock" while others take bold chances and shine that's what you get. Diana DeGarmo made her third trip to the bottom group, which was a joke. I thought she was great in her performance of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" but the judges threw rocks on her. She was clearly the best performer on the night.

The same cannot be said for John Stevens, even if he was in his element signing "As Time Goes By" from Casablanca. This guy is very one dimensional and is clearly on borrowed time.

I didn't see what the judges were all hot and bothered about Fantasia Barrino and her "Summertime". They act like she is the next Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston rolled into one. Please. I had her at the bottom this week, although I still think she is one of the top 3 overall.

What is the deal with AI finalists and the movie The Wiz? George Huff cited it as his favorite film and thank God he didn't sing a song from it, which surely would have led to his demise. Instead he was merely average with "Against All Odds".

All in all I thought it was a very average week of performances and I expect better next week. I'm wondering if JPL's votes will go to John Stevens and they probably will, meaning that Jasmine is gone. That's fine by me because before the whole thing started I had her taking 7th. Sooner or later I have to be dead on. My final original final 7 has 6 of the folks who are there with only Amy Adams missing in favor of Diana DeGarmo, who has escaped elimination three times.
