EntertainmentSarcasmo wants one of these. This leads me to wonder why:
  1. This is superior to a trained monkey with a blowtorch who will smite your enemies
  2. Photons or other electromagnetic-wave-based weapons which don't "excite" their target, but obliterate it with force, don't have to obey conservation of momentum. That is, if it blows up a moon, rather than heating it, why doesn't it have a recoil that pushes your shoulder through the Earth?

See now if I had one of those I could mount it above my front door to take care of those annoying door to door solicitors. No kid I don't want to buy magazines so you can play soccer in Hawaii!
