There's controversy about a public park saying one shouldn't perform baptisms in a river without a permit. I actually agree with the park on this one. I mean, one also shouldn't be allowed to perform weddings, birthday parties, etc. without reserving the area. Otherwise, how can the park make sure the area is safe (for both you and others)?I think the argument that "if you allow people to wade in the water, you need to allow this" is bogus. Again, you allow folks to talk while walking in a park. But you don't allow a wedding without a permit. The question is, what sorts of activities require a permit? I don't think it has to do with religion. It has to do with the number of people and the requirements of isolation/non-disturbance. What do you think?
