Kelly Perdew waxes Jennifer Massey to win Apprentice 2
This show put me to sleep. Kelly was so obviously the only qualified candidate to win it that the final few weeks had very little drama. The tasks were tired and pointless, and there were no new twists unless you include season 1 winner Bill Rancic being involved.Andy Litinsky gets my vote for most annoying reality contestant, and Jennifer Massey at least showed some guts even though she clearly wasn't going to get picked. Other than that, this was a terrible second season. The soon debuting third season features book smarts vs. street smarts in the hope that folks at home will choose sides. As always, here's how we got here ... Shouldn't guys in their 20's and 30's be able to create a better toy that is geared towards young boys? You would have thought so, but apparently not.
First things first, this season we have two more people in the mix so it is two teams of 9 split up by gender once again. The difference is that this time each team sent one member to the other team. I liked this change and think it would be great if every week they repeat this process. That would allow them to sent a trouble maker who is hurting their team away to the other side.
The other change is that the winning Project Manager is exempt from being fired the following week in the event that his/her team loses. That gives a little motivation behind being the PM since a loss means a guaranteed spot in the board room where bad things happen.
The male team (Mosaic, what a gay name that is) designed some morphing action figure that the kids were not impressed with at all. The female team (Apex, chosen from a list of probably 20 names they came up with) went with a very unorginal remote control car, but kids love things with motors they can crash right? They won in a landslide.
Project Manager Pamela Day could have brought 3 other team members with her to face The Donald's wrath, but instead chose wet behind the ears Andy Litinsky (Harvard grad, 23 years old) and Rob Flanagan after he was blasted by the entire room for not participating enough. Donald said it was a tough choice, but he was not impressed with Rob taking a back seat. In reality shows like Survivor and Big Brother it is good strategy to lay low in the early going, but not on The Apprentice. This is about being aggressive and showing your worth.
I don't have much of an impression from the people yet although Raj Bhakta dresses like he is gay, but apparently isn't. Either way, he needs a new look. Maria Boren is nasty and already I can see why she has been compared to Omarosa. Brad Cohen, a lawyer, was horrible in his stint as Project Manager for the women who won in spite of his efforts to push a different toy.
Next week promises a memorable board room and promos show The Donald telling some to shut up. Let's roll....
