Donald Rumsfeld: Irony is lost on me

Politic"How do we compete in this struggle in a way that can counter the ability of the enemy to lie, which we can't do, (and) the ability of the enemy to not have a free media criticizing them? You don't see much criticizing of them." Let me get this straight. Rumsfeld and this administration are hamstrung because:
  • They can't lie (about supporting our troops and then cutting benefits to veterans, about wanting a smaller government and then creating the largest ever, about WMD, about said WMD being the justification for the war, about whether they know Jack Abramoff or Ken Lay, about whether they give a hoot about bipartisanship, about no-bid contracts to cronies, ...)
  • They've pulled their punches, and aren't able to be as aggressive as they'd like to be, out of fear of media criticism? (imagine what Abu Ghraib could have been, imagine what other CIA cover could be blown, imagine what they'd do if all outlets were as balanced as Fox News, imagine what they'd do if they could pay off more "columnists")
Donald Rumsfeld, have you no sense of decency and irony?
