So, we went to the Alameda County Fair last night, where we saw Bowling for Soup.  Man, I dig their shtick (and it is just an act, as I think they probably have the same "spontaneous" observations at each concert.)  They seem entirely goofy, playful, and likeable, even though they're Texans.

Oh, and they even gave what was clearly a nod to Sarcasmo and dbsmall, here. (I recorded a video on my mobile phone; aren't you proud?)
In that same vein, I did my parental duty with Buko, and taught him that fairs are good, because the food is fried.

He chowed down on a giant corndog, while I had some falafel.  (Gwen wimped out and got a baked potato---what's that all about?  At least she went for a frozen banana afterwards.)  We'll go back soon, so he can try funnel cakes, which I'm told are very nice.

In any case, I guess what keeps me from starting "dbsmall's Fair Fare", a restaurant that serves corn dogs, falafel, french fries, cheesesteaks, funnel cakes, giant pickles, smoothies, etc...is that the foot traffic is difficult to support that kind of variety.  (I  probably wouldn't want it so badly if we only had a falafel place near here.)

Oh, and yeah...Buko also dug the rides, and demonstrated that he's a math whiz, explaining "nobody taught me [to add and subtract], I could just see the puzzle."  (He spontaneously started telling us what would happen if you had 4 french fries and you dropped 2, etc.)
