Business Opportunities That Occurred to Me in The Philippines

Business

Some of these are importation opportunities, and others are franchise opportunities, and others are just food-service opportunities...

  • Gwen loved taho, a dish made from soft tofu, tapioca, and sugar syrup.  First off, I don't see it being very successful in the US.  Second, it appears that Goldilocks Bakeshops already offer it.
  • These pastries called ensymadas were popular, but I'm not going to go into business for something I don't like
  • On the beach in Boracay, guys were selling all manner of LED-lit toys, including these slingshotted helicopters.  They were really cool, but I can't imagine I'd import these from China more effectively than someone like Oriental Trading company.
  • Lumpia (and turon)...Honestly, we sell pretzels at the mall.  Why hasn't this already been offered, here?  Could offere multiple varieties of fried deliciousness.  Either I'll find that someone else does offer them, or I'll figure out why they don't, or this is a nice business opportunity.
  • Fruitshakes (See Jonah's on Boracay).  Not really...but why is it that Jamba, Surf City Squeeze, etc. are so vastly inferior to the ones I got on Boracay?
  • Barong ...seems like there is an opportunity if I can get them here, cheaply enough.  Even non-Filipinos might like to wear them.
  • Halo-halo (see all notes on taho)
  • Chichacorn (delicous, but I found that Seafood City sells Boy Bawang, so there's only enjoyment...no business opportunity)
  • Twister Potato (I enjoyed these, complete with the "Matthew 5:10" reference on the packaging).  I bet these exist, here, already.  If not, it could be combined with the Lumpia business, easily enough.
  • Buko Pie & Bibingka - When we bring bibingka to parties---and it's the easiest dessert to make, next to instant pudding---it always gets rave reviews.  Seems like buko pie would also be easy to make.  If marketed as something glamorous and upscale, I could see this being profitable...

Let me know if you are aware of any of these already available (or if you want to join me in making "Lumpia King" a national sensation)...
