Carrie Underwood immune but Vote for the Worst campaign is making an impact on American Idol 4 voting
It seems that people with not a lot to do or think about have taken to voting for the worst contestant, namely Scott Savol, as a protest to season after season early ousting of good contestants. Last week this brilliant campaign cost Constantine Maroulis in most people’s eyes but given the timing of the record deal for his band I think a good number of people turned away from him in favor of the more needy contestants. This week was double your fun as all the singers took the stage twice and for the most part my pain was doubled. Carrie Underwood has a firm grasp on the lead at this point, and seemed pretty effortless this week after it appeared she was ill recently. I wasn’t crazy about her “Crazy” performance from Elvis but overall she was our top performer. Bo BIce delivered an excellent rendition of “Stand By Me” and it’s not easy to nail a classic by putting your own spin on it. He wasn’t as good with “Heaven” from Los Lonely Boys but still held onto the second spot this week and leads our overall rankings.Scott Savol was surprisingly good (for him) this week with “On Broadway” and “Every Time You Go Away” being equally decent. His arrogance might turn off some of the VFTW people, but we’ll see. Anthony Fedorov regressed back to his terrible ways with “Poison Ivy” by The Coasters and a disastrous effort to sing a Backstreet Boys song. Has there ever been a contestant who has made worse song choices? Still, Vonzell Solomon is dreadful and her cutesy act disgusts me. Sucking up by singing the American Idol group song is a joke, and her “Treat Me Nice” from Elvis Presley might find him coming out of hiding to shoot her. Put it this way, she is so bad that she leads Scott by under a point after 12 songs of overall ratings.
I don’t know if they will have a bottom 3 or just a bottom 2 this week, but I’m sticking with Scott Savol because of his arrogance. If the internet voting is making the impact some say it is, and all signs point to yes, then Vonzell Solomon will be one week from going back to delivering mail as the one standing next to him. If there is a third person in jeopardy, I really think it will be Bo who has to lose votes for his past misstep with drugs. It’s not right, but people will punish him for that.
Subtlety is not one of my strengths
