Anwar Robinson hopes to sing another day on American Idol 4 following another dismal showing
Let’s start with the good, as usual. Constantine Maroulis just about has this competition won. He closed with his own twist on “Bohemian Rhapsody” and to ace a Queen classic isn’t easy to do. Carrie Underwood will probably be up against him in the final, and in my opinion (norcaldoll also factors into these rankings) her version of “Love is a Battlefield” by Pat Benatar was the best so far this season. It’s a little known fact that I went to grammar school with Benatar’s niece. Bo Bice has cooled off considerably, but his version of “Free Bird” was solid and he still tops our overall rankings just ahead of Constantine and Carrie respectively. I’m not a fan of Nadia Turner and her horrific facial expressions while she sings, but I disagree with the judging of her “When I Dream” from Mac Davis which I think she did a good job with to open the show. Vonzell Solomon continues to trudge along and her “Let’s Hear it For the Boy” left a lot to be desired. Her wake up visit to the bottom three last week at least inspired her enough to impress Simon Cowell.Anthony Fedorov has quite a following of fans because he proved again with “Every Time You Go Away” from Paul Young that he can’t sing a lick. He was pretty good in the earlier rounds, but has struggled for the past four weeks. Anwar Robinson is not long for this competition after really gripping through Dionne Warwick’s “I’ll Never Love This Way Again”. He just didn’t do anything with it. Scott Savol the convict somehow escaped last week, but performing “She’s Gone” by Hall and Oates with them in the audience was hard to hear. He’s so far over his head at this point it is comical.
WHO’S OUT? Let’s just eliminate Bo, Carrie and Constantine from consideration for the bottom three which makes this a lot easier. Scott is not getting any love so he’s in the group for sure and he’s out this time. Anwar will narrowly escape this week and Anthony will get another first back to the safe couch honor. That will leave us with three competitors who will have been to the bottom 3 twice.
Subtlety is not one of my strengths
