Are you serious? The worst dancers on the first episode really improved that much? I mean come on, everyone could see that John O'Hurley (or J Peterman for all the Seinfeld fans) was a lock to win this show since it was announced. ABC couldn't have that though, not with their golden girl Trista Sutter cut in the first week and Kelly Monaco being their General Hospital soap star. So in a stunning turn of events, after trailing 27-25 going into the second dance (3 judges with a 10 point scale) and following another 27 from O'Hurley, the pair that got something like a 16 during the opening episode got not one, not two but three perfect 10s to win the judges voting by a single point.

It wouldn't be so odd except that in something like 30 prior dances (90 scores if you're not into math) there were ZERO perfect scores given. Yeah, they all decided it was an immaculate dance right? Someone agrees with me because 60% of the public believes John deserved to win, but apparently those people weren't voting. Given that Kelly was going to win the viewer vote the network figured they would let them go out on a high with the perfect 30 score I guess.

In spite the shoddy finish, the show was a booming success and actually averaged more viewers over a shorter run (6 episodes to 13) than the original American Idol. You can expect this show to return next summer with 8 or even 10 celebrities dancing away. A new host would be nice and maybe with hopes for bigger ratings they can bring Regis Philbin into the mix.
