NFL Predictions 2005: Week 12
A lot of people struggled last week, and I wasn’t in that group. Sure, there were some upsets and I went 11-5 straight up (109-51) but plenty of those predicting games went completely in the tank. I was 8-8 vs. the point spread (85-72-3) and 11-5 on the over/under (86-70-3). Bring on the turkeys. Atlanta (6-4) @ Detroit (4-6): ATL -3/over 42Both teams are reeling from a disappointing loss. The Lions are at home where they typically deliver Thanksgiving miracles while the Falcons are by far the more talented team. Kevin Jones should get loose against a struggling run defense, but at some juncture this season I have to believe the team coming off an NFC title game will start to play like it. Vick is a fool for television exposure so he shines while Joey is still a bad sitcom on NBC: Atlanta 28, Detroit 24
Denver (8-2) @ Dallas (7-3): DAL +2.5/under 41
Jake Plummer probably still has nightmares about coming into this stadium with the Cards, other than one playoff win at the tail end of the Cowboy dynasty. On the surface it appears that the Broncos would just run them over. Tatum Bell is wounded physically (chest) and emotionally (fumbles) though, leaving Mike Anderson which allows a good defense to focus on one rusher. Jake has targets down the field, but this year hasn’t used them much. I think this Dallas team gets crazy on defense leading to a wild win: Dallas 20, Denver 19
