Erika Jo Heriges wins Nashville Star 3 over Jason Meadows and Jody Evans
There were a lot of changes this season on Nashville Star. The host changed from Nancy O'Dell (Extra) to Leann Rimes, the judges were all new including Brett Michaels, the former front man of Poison and the contestants got much younger. The biggest change was that a girl finally won. That girl was Erika Jo Heriges (just 18 years old) who rode the local girl from near Nashville thing all the way to the title. If you think her entire high school voting for her didn't help, consider that 10 million people voted this season TOTAL which is about a third of an average episode of American Idol.
On the plus side, she could be a lot better once she gets in the studio and over the final few weeks her performances got a whole lot better.
I had Jason Meadows targeted from the first episode as the winner and all other things being equal he probably should have won. He did annoy me at the end, but he was by far the most consistent singer of the competition and wound up in second.
Jayron Weaver gave an unbelievable performance at the end, but as it turns out was eliminated on that night. If he had been included in the finals voting based on that showing I think he easily could have won it all.
Jody Evans became our favorite and rode the underdog card all the way to third place. He has a unique thing that he does and was a very personable guy who was well liked.
