Constantine Maroulis back in American Idol 4 mix after phone number snafu delays voting results

EntertainmentLet’s just say that someone who worked for the American Idol team earlier in the week probably doesn’t work for them today. You see, after probably 70 episodes over four seasons where phone numbers are flashed on the screen someone decided to list the wrong one below three of the contestants. The top number was correct, but the bottom one didn’t match meaning there was no way they could tally the voting from Tuesday night. Instead they re-ran the episode on Wednesday night, threw out all the votes and started over.

Back to action on the stage, Bo Bice naturally led by group of best in show after drilling “Time in a bottle” on Billboard #1 night. Fellow rocker Constantine Maroulis continued his comeback with a stirring rendition of “I Think I Love You” from The Partridge Family. Jessica Sierra continues to bounce from starting to closing the show and this week ended it with “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and did a great job with a tough song despite having to chop up the lyrics because of the time allotted. Carrie Underwood is really coming on strong and she aced “Alone” from Heart to earn high praises from Simon.

Vonzell Solomon continues to mystify me because I think she has potential, but her “Best of My Love” rendition while she walked around the audience wasn’t anything special. Nikko Smith has quietly worked his way deep into the finals and did a great job with “Incomplete”. Anthony Fedorov’s days are just about numbered as he opened with “I Knew You Were Waiting For Me” and really didn’t do much with it. Nadia Turner is overconfident and overrated as she butchered “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper in an effort to “make it her own” as Paula would use to say every week.

That leaves this weeks’ three worst although not necessarily my bottom 3. It starts with Anwar Robinson who frankly seemed nervous while singing “Ain’t Nobody” by Chaka Khan. Scott Savol continues to be terrible and seems to be getting worse. This time he decided Jessica Sierra didn’t do a good enough job on “Against All Odds” from Phil Collins and made hers sound better than the original in comparison. Mikalah Gordon said she was going to sing her way out of the bottom group, but her “Love Will Lead You Back” won’t lead her anywhere.

WHO IS OUT? Legitimately Mikalah should have been gone last week, so I will immediately call her out as the one eliminated this week. I just can’t imagine Jessica returning to the bottom group, especially with one less female in the field. Instead I think the poor performing males will fall under heat starting with Scott who must have a lot of friends and family voting for him at this point. I really don’t want to vote for another bottom 3 performer because I am torn between Anthony (who is cumulatively my #3) and Nikko but since Scott, Nikko and Mikalah (in that order) are my overall bottom 3 when I tally up my scores I will stick with them.

Mikalah Gordon is out, but shocker is Nadia Turner's near exit
Authored by: norcalfella on Friday, March 25 2005
The good news is that I was right again. Mikalah Gordon went out which makes me 10 of 14 on who will be biting the dust.

The bad news is that my first instinct of Anthony Fedorov being in the 3rd worst spot was correct because some really ugly people continue to vote for Scott Savol.

The weird news is that Nadia Turner was in the two spot meaning that now I'm only 3 of 6 on who will be in the bottom three. I'm not sure if her low vote total had more to do with her weird mohawk look, uneven performance or the voting lines snafu but I don't expect her to be in jeopardy next week.

If I had to guess ahead of time again I would take Anthony (out) Scott (barely escaping) and Vonzell (first safe) as the bottom group.

that's my take
