Mr. Le, Mr. Le, Hey Mr. Le

FoodWhy did nobody tell me about banh mi?  I mean, the way we discovered them was this:  on the way back from a volleyball tournament, it was clear we needed to get some food into Zachary before he fell asleep for the day.  As we passed enticing Indian restaurant after enticing Indian restaurant, he sleepily rejected them.  Finally he chose a restaurant---get this---because it had black ironwork chairs out front.  As we approached, and I found that it was a sandwich shop, I was irritated.

"I can't believe we're going to a sandwich shop, given the other places available!"

When we stepped inside of Lee's Sandwiches , though, I knew it wasn't "just a sandwich shop"... I mean, there aren't a whole lot of veggie options for Vietnamese sandwiches.  In fact, it's all about #12 (the mi chay).  But they also have all sorts of asian desserts and snacks.  And oh my goodness...that is one spectacular sandwich!

In fact, you'll find tha guys like this (visiting every Starbucks) or the fellow that's visiting every IKEA are inspirational.

My new goals:
  1. Visit every Lee's Sandwiches (at least the Northern California ones, first.)
  2. Persuade them to open a shop in Dublin, now that we have a 99 Ranch and an Ulfert's Plaza.

Just an update...I've now eaten at the following Lee's shops:
  • Sunnyvale (first shop I visited)
  • Power Inn (twice...second time, they had a drive through!)
  • Hayward
  • San Jose City Hall (twice)
  • Berryessa (around the corner from Queen Quon's house!)
