In Proust's Remembrance of Things Past, a character dunks a seashell shaped cake.  While I've never read the book, I have let my son eat these "Madelines", which he adores.  Turns out they're easy to make. Here's a basic recipe.  Of course, if you want to make them, it'll be easier if you have a silicone-madeline mold.
