Thoughts on the "Ground Zero Mosque"

Food

When we went to Manhattan this summer, we walked past "Ground Zero", and ended up 2 blocks from there, at a restaurant, Alfanoose.  It's a middle-Eastern restaurant, almost assuredly staffed by muslims.  It's also ridiculously good.

So, here we have muslims, running middle-eastern-cultural institutions, 2 blocks from where the towers stood, and nobody has a problem with it, that I know of.

Observations and rationalization for my own hypocrisy

Food

I believe the Anti-vaccine autism crusaders are nutballs.  That's not based on any thorough analysis.  Sure, sure, the mercury-based preservatives they used to use were hard on a kid's immune system.  And sure, if my kid got a shot, and shortly thereafter I noticed ASD symptoms, I'd see the chronological corellation and assume causality.  But I think it's been thoroughly tested by trusted authorities whose only incentive to lie is this:  the consequences of an unvaccinated society are likely greater than the risk of vaccine-induced ASD.  That's not enough to buy off *all* of the reputable scientists.

Volleyball Cookies

Food

For several weeks, I invented new cookie recipes to bring to volleyball.  I then had people try the cookies, and rate them.

I've finally finished putting together the cookbook, and done as much analysis as I have time for, now.

Eczema and dry skin

Food

My son has eczema, and there are some times of the year when it gets pretty nasty.  He sleeps with mittens on, and he's covered in vaseline and A&D, and it doesn't matter.  He wakes up, having scratched his skin off, scabbed up at night.

I've invented my own lotion, an ointment that includes natural oils, antiseptics, and anti-inflammatory agents.

This week, we visited a dermatologist, and got what, for Zachary, seems to be the secret sauce to dealing with these flare-ups.

What else should I put it on?

Food

In the last week, I have put the magical combination of Sriracha Chilli sauce & cilantro in or on:

  • Quesadilla
  • Fried Rice
  • Pizza
  • Eggs with veggie sausage
  • Veggie dumpling soup

What else should I put it on, that would be delicous?
