Leviticus 11:12

FoodYesterday was my wife's birthday. She's Filipino, and wanted Filipino food and, well, I suck at cooking it. So we went to a local spot called "Lumpia House", where she had beef soup and chicken adobo. I had eggs and rice, and some vegetable lumpia. Not bad.

I\'m not made of cheese

FoodThis Ask MeFi question, combined with the eagerness of MickeyLex's wife to try it, caused me to try out Herbivore (we went to the one on Valencia.) Service was nice, but horrible (slow, and I never actually got my entree...and after mentioning Zachary's peanut allergy, you'd have thought they'd have warned us about peanuts in dishes ohter than the one we specifically asked about.) The food was quite good, however (I tried Zachary's and Gwen's dishes.)

Low rent corn

FoodSome time ago, my friend Vishy taught me an Indian way to season corn on the cob. He'd use lemon juice, cayenne, salt, and some other stuff instead of butter. (Also, instead of mayonnaise, which my wife's family puts on their corn---and no, they're not Caucasian, so...)

Tonight, we were eating some corn on the cob, and I found that meyer lemon juice, dollar-store-hot salt ("Pico de Gallo" chile salt), Trader Joe's 21 seasoning salute (good on most everything), and some black pepper is quite a tasty variant.

FoodI find it interesting that even during the administration of the most business friendly EPA and FDA ever, a number of commonly used drugs and chemicals are suddenly be found to be dangerous. This time the EPA is charging Dupont with hiding internal evidence first collected in the 1961 that Teflon might be extremely dangerous.
