Rating the 2008 Super Bowl Commercials

EntertainmentFirst off, I gotta say, I'm happy with how the Super Bowl turned out, after all.  I guess I like cheering for the underdog.  And I had a bad taste in my mouth after the Cheatriots were caught spying on opposing teams.    And I really didn't expect to like the game.

I did, however, expect a rebound year from last year's dismal commercials.  And yeah, it was better than last year.  but it still wasn't a return to the "heyday" of commercials during the dotcom bubble.  And yeah, we had to sit through some offensive (and still ineffective) commercials for a dotcom.  To see the analysis of Doug's and my commercial viewing, click "read more".

Without the annoying judges panel

EntertainmentSo, I don't watch American Idol.  (I guess that's norcalfella's job :D ).  But I gather that Simon Cowell's job is to be a critical turd.  Paula Abdul's gig is spreading the saccharine around.  And the other fellow...I don't know, maybe he actually takes it seriously.  But the point is, you don't get to be on the show if you can't sing, but love to lip sync.  That's where bopsta (formerly Google Idol) comes in.

I lost on Jeopardy, baby

EntertainmentNearly every time I go to the barber, I'm advised to try out for Jeopardy.  (I still haven't done so, and, despite the success of RIF, don't think I'm in the "competitive class" for the show.  And no, I don't know him.  He attended Mudd after I did.  Long before him, a West Dorm resident lost on the Wheel of Fortune, not knowing the phrase "Out Of Line".)

I was both and neither

EntertainmentI borrowed the complete Freaks  & Geeks on DVD.  I've said it before, but this was the greatest show on television.  Seriously.
