The Secrets to My Decrease

Food

About a month ago, I mentioned that Iíd recently lost a lot of weight, and would be providing a report analyzing which of my actions likely helped.

More precisely: Iíve been saying for a few years that, if I got my weight below 150 lbs. and kept it there for one month, I would starting meat again.† I was goofing around with MS Excel in August, when I realized that January 8, 2016 would be 10,000 days of being a vegetarian.† Thus, I was motivated to drop 30 pounds by December 8, 2015.

Before I present any more information, I should be clear about a few things:

  1. Iím not a doctor
  2. Iím neither a dietician nor a nutritionist
  3. What worked for me may not work for you, and may not be advisable for other reasons

So Iím going to present information, and my best guesses, and if you take actions based on this, do†so at your own risk and donít blame me.† Ok?† OK?!

Phat, Dope, and Fresh

Food

I'm torn as I read about the FDA considering banning artificial trans fats.

On the one hand, I think trans fats are the devil.  I certainly won't be sad to see them gone.  And if this enables me more variety of foods at the grocery story without partially-hydrogenated oils, that'll be great.

On the other hand, I worry about outlawing the sale of items that have a legitimate purpose.  After all, what is the determining criterion?

THEY"RE BACK!

Food

This is not a paid endorsement. Kettle foods isn't paying me. I think they may be trying to kill me.

Three facts you may already know about me, and which are almost certainly documented on this website (though I'm not able to find such documentation, right now):

  1. Once I open a package, if I'm eating from the package, it is a single serving.

  2. My favorite “junk food” is chips

  3. I believe the greatest chip, of all time, was Kettle Chips Red Chili flavor

Volleyball Cupcakes

Food

Y'all remember when I did that silly numerical analysis of cookie recipes?  That was fun, for me.  I learned how to make cookies.  I gathered data.  I drew crazy conclusions.

So, you know what?  I did it again.  Except this time, I learned how to make cakes.  (Or, at least, I tried.)  I made up eight unfrosted-cupcake recipes, and gathered data on them.

Chelation Therapy

Food

Boy, I honestly don't know how I ever came across this web page for Gordon Research Institute, specialists in chelation therapy.

I suspect I was reading up on Jenny McCarthy's anti-vaccine autism crusade, or maybe I was trying to understand the "detox" craze.

Frustrated with faux meats

Food

Why do fake "proccessed meats" taste so terrible?  I mean, it's not like bologna or a hot dog tastes like meat.

And, more specificaly, why does nobody make vegetarian Italian dry salame?  It's been about 23 years since I had dry salame, and I still have cravings.  Man, that was good stuff.

Seriously, I could make candles...

Food

I've always heard "never stick anything larger than your elbow into your ear."

And, after reading that article, it's clear that I am doing the wrong thing, using Q-tips.

But what about the Ototek Loop?  Have any of you used one?  (I'm thinking of seeing if CVS has one, and getting one.
