Look in my eyes, what do you see?

  • Talent isn’t absolute, but is contextual. Some on-air talent will be good for one timeslot, or one genre. If you have confidence in the talent, give ’em time and try different situations.
  • Motivating talent seems to be a combination of corporate supervision, with some appeals to creativity.
  • Storytelling and humor are essential tools.
  • Some people are generators, and some are reactors. Good programming needs both.

  1. Most people are reactors.
    But both are needed for a good show. And it’s possible that the host is a reactor, provided that there are generators on staff or as regular guests.
